Paige's Surgery

Paige had some herniated disks in her back and was paralized from the waste down. She had to have back surgery, and now she won't slow down. I took her to Sun Valley to a Dr Randy Acker (he is the best around) and he had her walking again in two days. She is doing great now. She seems to feel better than she has in years. She is such a sweetie.

Garage Sales

I found a great deal on a chocolate fountain at a garage sale. Hmmm, wonder why they were selling it for only a dollar. OK, now for the real story...the chocolate fountain worked fine. I actually didn't have quite enough chocolate to make a nice flow of chocolate so I melted down a Symphony bar and added to it. The machine didn't like the almonds. An almond bumped the metal tiered part off the base and the auger flung it around in circles. I got out the carpet shampooer and Kevin cleaned the carpet while Amanda mopped. I changed clothes and cleaned up the counter top. Then I thought I would be smarter and hold it together with my hand. It seemed like the almonds had worked their way through and the fountain was running smoothly. I decided to let go of the machine. It worked great for a minute and then did the exact same thing again. I was so happy to have Kevin there to clean the carpet, and Amanda there to mop again.

Class at the Smoky Canyon Mine

Lookin SCARY!

Adam Isaacson (our class facilitator)

I had a great time on my fieldtrip to Smoky Canyon Mine (not mispelled). We were able to see the inner workings of the mine, the reclaimation that's going on, the Conda Station where the slurry is continuing to be pumped through a pipe all the way to Pocatello, and so much nature. The forest service spoke to us and I was able to camp out in the wilderness for an entire week. Rod came to visit for a night and the next day. While there I saw over ten does, one buck, a moose, two fox, several bunnies, eagles, bats, a skunk, lots on chipmunks and ground squirrels, etc. WAY COOL!!! The drive home through Palisades was gorgeous.

Great Friends!

Our Beautiful Idaho Falls Temple
This picture was taken when I went down to the river with Todd. What a beautiful night.

After a rough breakup Todd invited me to go sit down by the river and read. It was such a beautiful, peaceful night and I read in an Ensign about Christ. I took my camera with me a took a few pictures of the temple while I was there.

Testimony Time

In testimony meeting on Sunday I explained to Jocelyn what testimony meeting was for. She asked what you are supposed to say during your testimony and I explained it to her. She took out a piece of paper and a pencil and we proceeded to put her thoughts on paper. She then asked if she could go bare her testimony after the lady speaking was through. I told her "Yes." As soon as the lady was finished, Jocelyn asked if she could go up. I again told her "Yes." She went up on the stand and bore a beautiful testimony. She only looked at her paper twice. After she was finished and sat back down, she leaned over to me and said, "Grandma, baring my testimony makes my legs have the shivers."

The Good Ole Days

These were the good ole days, when life was simple. I remember walking to the store right after the roads were tarred and getting tar in a thick layer on the bottom of my bare feet. I remember when a loaf of Wonder Giant white bread was 17 cents. I remember the 10 cent candybars that were so much bigger than they are now. I remember Winner suckers, Bubsdaddy bubblegum, licorace babies, Slap Sticks, and Zotz. I remember when they came out with the Marothon candybar. I remember moon boots, 501 jeans, Carpenter pants, Hash Jeans, gunnysack dresses, and leg warmers. I remember watching Sonny and Cher, Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitched, and Johnny Quest. I remember listening to The Carpenters, Mac Davis, Anne Murray, and The Jackson 5. I remember having crushes on Shawn Cassidy (loved his song Da do run run), KC from KC and the Sunshine Band, and Andy Gibb (sang Shadow Dancing, I owned the single). I remeber when tv's didn't have remotes and we only had channels 3, 8, and 10, there was no such thing as a game system (when we got our first Atari game system I stayed up until 3am playing Breakout), we shared a phone line with our neighbors (their daughter had a foul mouth), and kids could roam the neighborhood day and night without parents worrying. I remember big, neighborhood slumber parties and playing Truth or Dare, Hide and Go Seek, and Run Sheepy Run (these slumber parties had boys and girls sleeping out on the lawn and we didn't think twice about it). I remember drinking Orange Crush, Apple Beer and Fanta Red Creme Soda. I remember feeding the cows apples over the fence, bottle feeding my pet goat, climbing my grandpa's haystack, gathering eggs, and hanging out with Grandma while she slopped the pigs. Those were such great times!
